Dear Levi Rae,

A million words exist and none seem sufficient.

none seem sufficient for the boldly, sassy, innocent soul you are are right now.

none seem sufficient for the spunky, outspoken, angsty tween/teen you will become.

none seem sufficient for the when the roaring 20s come in like a flood.

A million words, and none seem sufficient,

because none are sufficient.

none can protect you from the hurt of life.

the loss, the disappointment, the heart break.

none can keep you sweet, sassy and innocent, as you are now.

so full of life, character, joy.

things will change, sooner than I would like them to.

and you will experience life's ebbs and flows just like the rest of us.

I am not perfect, your parents are not perfect.

Life is not perfect.

but life can be beautiful.

and so while I have your attention, while your heart is not yet stained and your soul is not yet jaded, I need you to know. I need you to understand, I need you to never forget:

I love you. 

You are loved.

I believe in you. 

I am proud of you.

I support you.

You are safe.

I will take the time to get to know you.

at every stage, through every season

you will be understood.

and most importantly,

I am happy you are here, I am excited that you exist.
