I Don't Know How Commas Work.

I know, by definition, what commas are. 

I am after all a writer and a native american english speaker.

They tell you to pause, they tell you to wait, they tell you to breath;

But like where do those little doohickies go? And why are there so many rules attached to them?

Where do I pause, why do I wait, how do I breath?

I never seem to know.

I suppose the only answer, is to, take it each sentence at a time.

but also, dafuq is a comma splice?
